Objectives
- To provide consulting services to State and Federal legislators and executive officials, supporting their efforts to improve election law and administration;
- to work closely with the Ohio Association of Election Officials to provide nonpartisan evaluations and recommendations for improvements to election administrative procedures and publications;
- to create opportunities among election officials, legislators, scholars and civic leaders for discussion of election law implementation issues and election administration improvements;
- to serve as a contracting partner with county Boards of Elections and the State of Ohio to conduct administrative, legal and technical training for election officials and other educational activities;
- to act as the primary independent entity within the State of Ohio able to advise on electronic voting issues;
- to field independent technical advisors on issues including e-voting security, voter registration, and voter identification;
- to assist in generating a list of best State practices in election administration;
- to offer broad access to conferences and training on election administration and election law issues;
- to function as a resource within Ohio and neighboring States by providing experts available to speak on legal, procedural and technical elections issues;
- to undertake scholarly studies on election law and administration designed to facilitate accurate understanding of election system performance, and efficient and fair election improvements;
- to educate citizens about the election system in Ohio and neighboring States, including the role of poll workers, opportunities for citizen involvement, electronic voting systems, registration issues, and voting rights.
