Dr. Sanda Kaufman is a widely recognized expert in negotiation and intervention skills for resolving public, organizational, and environmental conflicts.  In her research and consulting work, she has promoted public participation, researched decision analysis and risk communication, and evaluated public programs.  She has designed and facilitated public meetings, and has trained mediators and elected officials (United States) and environmental practitioners (Portugal).

Dr. Kaufman teaches courses in conflict management, strategic planning, quantitative reasoning, and environmental policy.  She holds degrees in public policy analysis (Heinz School, Carnegie Mellon University) as well as architecture and regional planning (Technion, Israel Institute of Technology), and publishes widely in prominent professional journals. Fluent in four languages and proficient in 8 languages, she is also a professional interpreter.
