Professor Weinstein is a specialist in the intersection of law and public policy administration. He holds a joint faculty appointment at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. A nationally-recognized expert on state and local government law, Professor Weinstein has served as a consultant and/or project manager to more than twenty local and state governments on issues including: affirmative action in government contracting, mechanisms for regional governance, negotiated processes for siting of hazardous waste facilities, and numerous questions involving land-use policy and planning. He lectures frequently at governmental, law and planning conferences and has published over seventy-five books, treatise chapters and journal articles.
Prior to his appointment at Cleveland State, he taught at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Architecture & Urban Planning, the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College, and Wayne State University Law School. Professor Weinstein serves as Director of the Colleges' Law & Public Policy Program and Dual Degree Programs in Law and Urban Planning, Design & Development (JD/MUPDD) and Law and Public Administration (JD/MPA). The programs he directs have been awarded over $1,150,000 in external grants and contracts over the past fifteen years from foundations and federal, state, and local governments.
