ACT is a three-year planning grant to conduct a community-based participatory research (CBPR) project around obesity in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood. The project introduced the Central community to CBPR methods, worked with residents to define a focus within the context of obesity and its consequences, developed obesity-related health interventions based on best practices, and implemented a pilot project to evaluate these interventions. The overall goal was to determine if utilizing CBPR methodologies will have better success in defining and introducing effective health interventions over the long term compared with traditional methodologies.
