This volume "examines the political consequences of today's urban social context including concentrated poverty neighborhoods and single-parent household structures on the political behavior of white and black inner-city residents." It also examines "whether or not the social context of inner-city communities impedes access to politically relevant resources that play an important role in facilitating political participation." The book includes a chapter-by-chapter overview, the questionnaire used in the study, and the design methodology.
