Merissa C. Piazza is a Research Associate in the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs. Merissa moved to Cleveland in the summer of 2008 to take part in the Cleveland Executive Fellowship, a year-long experiential, immersion program designed to accelerate professional development of civic leaders. Prior to that, Merissa worked as an Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC. She co-authored the paper, “Business Employment Dynamics Data: Survival and Longevity, II” which was published in Monthly Labor Review, and has been cited by the New York Times, Small Business Administration, and the Kauffman Foundation. Merissa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI; and then went on to earn a Master of Public and International Affairs specializing in Global Political Economy from the University of Pittsburgh.
