Ms. Shimek is a Project Manager with the Center for Public Management of the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University and the Interim Executive Director, Nonprofit Academic Centers Council (NACC). Ms. Shimek has worked in the fields of public administration; planning; public finance; and applied research and analyses since 1991. In her experience as a project manager and program administrator, she oversaw consultant contracts, developed and implemented marketing strategies, and provided quality control in services and products. She has also served in a technical capacity performing operational assessments and program evaluations; reviewing development plans for compliance with local zoning regulations; assisting clients in developing policies, documentation procedures and operations manuals required forcompliance with federal and state law; and evaluating the financial impact of current versus proposed operational procedures.Prior to her employment at Cleveland State, she was a planner and analyst with the firm Bramhall Engineering and Surveying in Avon, specializing in storm water regulations compliance assistance. She also worked at the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), and the Ohio Auditor of State. As a Deputy Auditor in the Performance Audit Section of the State Auditorís Office, Ms. Shimek managed the operations reviews/assessments of various university, county and municipal commissions and departments. These audits incorporated estimates of the financial impact of the changesrecommended by the audit. Ms. Shimek also managed an infrastructure advocacy project for the development of a countywide capital improvement plan and infrastructure investment strategy for Lorain County and worked with the City of Green, Ohio to develop a capital planning process.

Ms. Shimek holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Louis University. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and American Planning Association, is an Ohio EPA Qualified Data Collector- Level, 1 and a Six Sigma Black Belt Professional (SSBBP).
