Peter Whitt holds a master’s degree in social work and provides leadership, direction and fosters relationships with key partners as Associate Director. He has successfully established internal relationships with departments supporting a planning effort funded by the National Institutes for Health focused on Community Based Participatory Research (Academic and Community Partnership) that addresses obesity in one of Cleveland’s most challenged communities and transitioned as Principle Investigator for this project. In addition, he is currently leading the Education, Research and Training Core for the P60 grant through a partnership with the Case/MetroHealth Center for Reducing Health Disparities.

Prior to joining Cleveland State University, he was the Director of Community Outreach at St. Vincent Charity Hospital. During that time, he directed a team of professional staff in the areas of Community Health Worker, Social Worker, Public Health and Nursing. Peter was very instrumental in leveraging partnerships, funding that supported the implementation of community outreach programs addressing health disparities in a low income community. In addition, he established the use of Community Health Workers as an integral part of the healthcare team.

Prior to his experience at St. Vincent Charity Hospital his career began in 1998 as a Program Manager in the area of workforce development with Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority in Cleveland, OH.

Peter serves as a lecturer at Cleveland State University with the Department of Health Sciences. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Cuyahoga Community College in the Department of Physical Education teaching self-defense. He is the chief instructor and owner of 3N Society of Enlightenment, LLC a martial arts/social service business that targets all age groups, especially youth and adults promoting martial arts, discipline, personal growth and community accountability.
