Elaine has over 30 years of senior management and executive experience in both nonprofit and government organizations. She served as the Executive Director of the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging in Cleveland and of Info Line, Inc., in Akron before becoming the founding CEO of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

Elaine’s special talent has always been in developing new programs and services for the community. As Director of Cleveland’s site in the National Long Term Care Channeling Demonstration Project, she secured the State of Ohio’s first Medicaid waiver for long term care services provided to the elderly in their homes. This project was the forerunner of Ohio’s successful PASSPORT program.

While at Info Line Inc., she led the creation of Child Care Connection, the six-county state-designated regional child care resource and referral service and Project Connect, the nonprofit technology assistance program. She was also a leader in the designation of the 211 Information and Referral Service both in Ohio and nationally.

Elaine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, where she was honored as a Distinguished Alumna and currently serves on the Board of Trustees. She received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Elaine currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the graduate program in nonprofit management at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University where she teaches Resource Development and Fundraising.

Elaine is a graduate of the Leadership Akron Program and has served as a member of the Ohio Attorney General’s Charitable Advisory Council for the last three administrations. She is a founding member of the Summit County Social Services Advisory Board where she chaired its levy review committee. Other boards she has served on in the past include: Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO), the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) and Ohio AIRS.

Elaine’s passion for the charitable sector and its critical role in society is evident as she speaks to groups all over Ohio on Board Governance, Financial Sustainability, Strategic and Business Planning, and Generational Change.
