Vera Vogelsang-Coombs is Associate Professor of Public Administration and Urban Studies and the MPA Program Director. She teaches PAD 692:Capstone Seminar in Public Administration, and UST473/573-PAD 573:Columbus Seminar. Both classes incorporate online learning through WebCT at CSU. She is the advisor for students enrolled in the General Public Management specialization of the MPA Program. She also coordinates the Graduate Certificate Programs in Local and Urban Management (LUM) and Research Administration. Her current research interests are mayoral & city council leadership, democratic theory, political representation, and organizational development. Her articles have appeared in Public Administration Review, the Journal of Public Affairs Education, the Review of Public Personnel Administration, and more. She was an associate editor of the Journal of Public Affairs Education from 2001 to 2005. Besides her faculty responsibilities, she is Senior Faculty Associate of Leadership Programs, providing training and technical assistance to leaders of public and nonprofit organizations. She is the architect of the Levin College's Local Officials Leadership Academy and its Certificate Series for Newly Elected Officials. She has had extensive experience in designing and delivering professional development programs for state and local managers, including the Ohio Certified Public Manager (OCPM) Program. Dr. Vogelsang-Coombs is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and the Public Administration Theory Network (PAT-Net). In 2006, Mayor Frank Jackson appointed Dr. Vogelsang-Coombs to serve as a member of the Cleveland Operations Efficiency Task Force. Sample Syllabi: |
