About the Forum

Be sure to watch “A Crack in the Pavement” on Sunday, January 23 at 4:00pm on WVIZ, Channel 25. The documentary explores efforts of public officials in southern Ohio to prevent older suburbs from losing businesses and residents to newer suburbs. Included: policies that benefit sprawl development instead of older communities. Peter Coyote narrates.

How can the communities of Northeast Ohio come together to create an environment for economic prosperity? This forum will explore the connection between regional job growth and economic development and local government collaboration on such strategic issues as infrastructure investment and land use planning and regulation.

For the past two years, the Regional Prosperity Initiative* (RPI), a collaborative effort to promote region-wide land use planning accompanied with new growth tax base sharing, has been working to advance this idea. This forum will focus on next steps for the PRI initiative.

The audience is invited to participate in roundtable discussions.
