The Levin College Forum Program and NorTech’s Advanced Energy Speaker Series, in partnership with Magnet and The Greater Cleveland Partnership present a “Dialogue on Cap and Trade.”
As Congress weighs imposing a mandatory limit on climate-altering gases — an outcome still far from certain — it is likely to turn to “cap and trade” a system that sets a government ceiling on total emissions and allows polluting industries to buy and sell permits to meet it. What would such a system mean for Ohio, one of the largest carbon dioxide emitters in the country? What models are being discussed in Washington? How might they work? How might they impact Northeast Ohio residents and businesses?
Join us as we explore these and other issues related to “cap and trade.”
Diane De Vaul, Director of Policy, Northeast-Midwest Institute, Washington, D.C. will provide an overview of “cap and trade.” Representatives from United States Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), and an Ohio utility will be part of the panel.
