The 2010 Urban Development Process/Market Analysis class in the Levin College of Urban Affairs focused on determining the marketability and financial viability of development and redevelopment projects in the urban context. For a final project in the class, each student selected a potential development project and conducted a thorough marketability and financial viability analysis on their project. The projects selected ranged from luxury apartments in university circle to high rise, mixed use buildings across from the west side market. The culmination of the final project was a student competition in which the 5 members of the class with the highest grades on the final project presented their project to a panel of judges made up of experts from the cleveland real estate industry. The presenters were Joan Chase, Bryce Sylvester, Mark Ciepiel, John Vitou, and Richard Piiparinen. In addition to the invaluable experience of participating in the presentation competition, the participants were awarded cash prizes totaling $4,100 made available by the generosity of the members of the panel of judges.
