The Cuyahoga County Career Executive Service is a succession planning program designed for Cuyahoga County's Health & Human Services, and Finance & Administration divisions. This program is a product of a unique partnership between Case Western Reserve University's (CWRU) Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, the CWRU Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, and Cleveland State University's (CSU) Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs.
CSU and CWRU, in partnership with Cuyahoga County officials,
have designed this succession-planning program to develop an internal
capacity for recruiting employees, developing skills and abilities
consistent with a countywide orientation. This program prepares
selected county employees for advancement, insuring that the County
receives a return on this training investment.
The Cuyahoga County - CES program offers feedback-instensive training,
challenging work and learning opportunities, and support from
professional coaches and project advisors. Through a combination
of classroom instruction, hands-on projects, and inter-agency
peer learning, county employees will experience a variety of learning
modalities to prepare them for the challenges of executive leadership
within Cuyahoga County now and in the future.
CES Projects provide a public management laboratory for experiential
learning where participants can directly apply and practice workshop
and classroom theories and acquired skills. Check back soon for
a list of highlighted Cohort 2 projects.
CES Cohort #4 begins on July 23, 2010 with program orientation. Please contact Zoe Tyler at (216)-687-2206 or Rob Ziol at (216)-687-3509. Click here for Program Schedule.
