NEORC Goals and Objectives

Goal I - Define and describe the region.

Objective 1: Define the region geographically

Objective 2: Describe the region's identity, image and character.

Goal II - Benchmark regional progress.

Objective 1: Identify regional indicators and benchmark the region's progress in comparison to other regions.

Objective 2: Become the regional repository of data and trends on Northeast Ohio's quality of life, educational performance, economic performance, leadership, and other issues as identified by the NEORC.

Goal III - Initiate and conduct high quality research, outreach and technical assistance on key regional issues.

Objective 1: Conduct research to identify and analyze critical regional issues.

Objective 2: Conduct outreach to inform research and disseminate findings, raise awareness and better understand critical regional issues.

Objective 3: Conduct technical assistance with local governments, and business and community-led
non-profits to address critical regional issues.

Goal IV - Facilitate regional collaboration among local initiatives including leadership training and development and neighborhood planning and community development.

Objective 1: Convene partnerships among local initiatives addressing common issues throughout the Northeast Ohio region.

Objective 2: Coordinate university-based programs in Northeast Ohio addressing local issues.

Objective 3: Work with regional planning organizations to improve quality and process.

Goal V - Create ongoing regional dialogues on issues and disseminate information.

Objective 1: Convene regional summits, forums and public discussions.

Objective 2: Communicate research findings through electronic and print-based media.

Goal VI - Foster a region-wide culture that values excellence in urban design and innovation.

Objective 1: Support excellence in design.

Objective 2: Support sustainable planning.

Goal VII - Collaborate with research and policy organizations that share the NEORC's interests in the future of the Northeast Ohio Region.

Objective 1: Partner with organizations at the local, regional, state, and national levels to bring additional resources and expertise to bear on issues affecting Northeast Ohio.

Objective 2: Achieve wider recognition of NEORCıs research program and broaden support by pursuing funding from state and national organizations that share the consortiumıs interests.
