1) Congratulations to Lt. Thomas J. Schloemer, MPA '06 who has been promoted to Captain in the Cleveland Division of Fire.

2) Erin Huber, MSUS'11, is being inducted into the Mentor High School Alumni Distinguished Hall of Fame on April 26! Congratulations!

3) In April, W. Michael Fleming, MUPDD'11 will start his new position as the Executive Director of the St. Clair-Superior Development Corporation. Congratulations!


Faculty & Staff News

Christine Ledvinka-Rush has an article coming out in the March 2012 issue of Review of Public Personnel Administration. The article is titled: "Amending the Americans with Disabilities Act: Shifting Equal Employment Opportunity Obligations in Public Human Resource Management" and the citation is Review of Public Personnel Administration, Volume 32(1), pp. 100 - 113.

Norm Krumholz co authored an article on the Gordon Square Arts District entitled "Here Comes the Neighborhood: A Cleveland Success Story" published in this month's issue of PLANNING Magazine (Vol. 78, No. 3).

Sunjoo Park, Bill Bowen and Roberta Steinbacher recently published an article that will be in the Spring issue of Biodemography and Social Biology. The title of the article is "Social and Demographic Dimensions of Sex Selection Technologies".

HUD Fellowship Placement Program

HUD Hosts Strong Cities, Strong Communities Fellowship Program in partnership with the German Marshall Fund, the Metropolitan Institute at Virginia Tech, Cleveland State University's Center for Leadership Development and the Center for Community Planning and Development. The application now available. March 30th, 2012 is the last day to receive applications.


Shale Study predicts many benefits for Ohio

Policy Challenge

Visit  policychallenge.asu.edu  to help federal agencies figure out how to  knock down barriers to innovation and  best enable the use of new technologies in  education, clean energy, and healthcare.

Finalists will be invited to the Finale in Washington, D.C. on May 18th to present their proposals to high-profile expert judges from government, industry and academia, as well as meet in person with agency principals to discuss their ideas. Proposals of the winning team(s) will be shared with the Cabinet Secretary from the relevant federal agency. Short-form two-page proposals due April 2nd!

FEMA regional training course

The Levin College’s Center for Emergency Preparedness and CSU Campus Safety will host a 3-day FEMA regional training course: Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Higher Education from June 19-21, 2012 at Fenn Tower. As the host institution, CSU will invite staff from six other local universities to participate. This is an excellent opportunity for CSU to highlight its preparedness initiatives and to foster collaboration in protecting students, faculty and staff in the region.
