Maxine Goodman Levin Discretionary Fund 2009 Award Proposals

In accordance with the wishes of Maxine Goodman Levin to enhance the careers, advance the scholarship, and support research and professional development for women at the Levin College, proposals are now being accepted for discretionary fund awards. The intent of these awards is to assure that women at the Levin College have equal access to funds for research, scholarships, and professional development such as professional travel, equipment, or research project seed funding, etc. Recipients of the funds will be expected to submit a summary of how the funds were used.

Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Award Notification expected by Friday, March 27, 2009. Proposals can be dropped off at UR 322 or directed via campus mail to Jane McCrone, UR 322.

Join the CSU Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Team.  This is a great opportunity for CSU students, faculty, and staff! The next training is offered Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 p.m., February 12 through April 16 (total of 20 hours) in the Urban Building. 

CSU CERT is comprised of campus community volunteers who are trained to respond as needed in the event of a disaster or emergency situation.  There is an extensive 20-hour training program that emphasizes hands-on practice. Trainers come from various backgrounds like first responders (fire, police and EMS), CSU faculty and staff, and community members.  Training topics include disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism and CERT, and CERT organization. CSU President Schwartz strongly supports CERT’s effort and staff and faculty will be allowed to complete 20 hours of training on CSU time with the permission of their supervisors.
