Maxine Goodman Levin Discretionary Fund 2009 Award Proposals

In accordance with the wishes of Maxine Goodman Levin to enhance the careers, advance the scholarship, and support research and professional development for women at the Levin College, proposals are now being accepted for discretionary fund awards. The intent of these awards is to assure that women at the Levin College have equal access to funds for research, scholarships, and professional development such as professional travel, equipment, or research project seed funding, etc. Recipients of the funds will be expected to submit a summary of how the funds were used.

Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Award Notification expected by Friday, March 27, 2009. Proposals can be dropped off at UR 322 or directed via campus mail to Jane McCrone, UR 322.


LCUA Out and About

Interim Dean Ned Hill was quoted in the Crain's Cleveland Business article "A fractured industry: Cuyahoga County's financial sector outpacing manufacturing in job losses."

Dr. Edward Hill was interviewed for BusinessWeek's article "Auto Bailout: UAW Chief Draws a Line."

The Center for Economic Development did research for NorTech's report "The High Tech Sector in Northeast Ohio." See "Northeast Ohio Experience High Tech Employment Growth in 2007". The report will be available in mid-January.

Randell McShepard ('98 MS in Urban Studies) had an op-ed in the Plain Dealer titled "A New Year's resoltuion for Cleveland." McShepard is a co-founder of the Cleveland-based think tank, PolicyBridge. He is also a member of the Levin College's Visiting Committee.
