Economic Development Speaker Series
On Tuesday, February 22nd President Barack Obama visited Cleveland State University for a forum focusing on small business advancement in Ohio. Levin College students Brandon Scullion, Cassie Gaffney, Babette Oestreicher and Andrew Gotlieb were invited to be volunteer drivers in the Presidential motorcade. The four started their day on the tarmac at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport where they picked up members of the President's Cabinet and White House Press before traveling to the Wolstein Center. Following the President's remarks and breakout sessions with small business owners the four were given an opportunity to meet and be photographed with President Obama. A research project headed by Dr. Roby Simons was included in an article entitled "Rescuing the Castaways" in the latest issue of Planning Magazine. The professional magazine of the American Planning Association highlights Dr. Simons' study of new uses of vacant buildings in Cleveland along with other Levin college personnel. Save the Date for In Tribute 2011 -- June 1, 2011. This year the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs will honor Joseph Roman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Cleveland Partnership. The event will be held at the historic Hanna Theater on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. More information will be forthcoming.
CSU Alumni Association -- Distinguished Alumni Awards -- October 21, 2011. The Alumni Awards will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Inter Continental Hotel and Conference Center. The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs will honor Madeline A. Cain. More information to follow.
Levin Speaker Series: Economic Development in NE Ohio
Regain, Sustain, Migraine? is open to all current, former, and prospective students as well as the general public. This
speaker series will highlight the personal stories, career successes, and offer industry
insight from professionals within the government/nonprofit sector. This is the perfect
opportunity to network with professionals, faculty and peers to explore the rewards and
challenges in the field of Economic Development for NE Ohio. Refreshments and light
snacks will be served. Registration not required but limited seating available.
