Cleveland State to present findings of obesity research with Central neighborhood residents on June 30

Tuessday, June 30, 2009 . 5:00-7:00 p.m. . Friendly Inn Settlement House, 2386 Unwin Road
For more than three years, CSU has worked in partnership with several hundred residents of Cleveland's Central neighborhood to fight obesity. The University will host a community meeting, open to the public, to disseminate the findings of this National Insitutes of Health-funded research venture and discuss the next steps. A photo exhibit by Central residents will be a focal point of the event.

Peter Whitt of CSU's Levin College of Urban Affairs is principal investigator of the project, called Advancing Central's Health Together (ACT). The project involves Central residents in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) to develop an activity to address obesity as well as implement a pilot intervention.


Edward (Ned) Hill Named Dean of the Levin College of Urban Affairs

The CSU Board of Trustees has appointed Edward W. (Ned) Hill, Ph.D., as Dean of CSU's Levin College of Urban Affairs, effective immediately.

Dr. Hill has been Interim Dean of the College since October 2007. In addition, he has been CSU's Vice President for Economic Development since July 2005, a position he will now relinquish in order to devote his full attention tot he activities of the Levin College.

Dr. Hill joined the University in 1985 and has been a Professor and Distinguished Scholar of Economic Development since September 2001. He will remain in the classroom and continue to teach both unergraduate and graduate classes. He was awarded CSU's Distinguished Faculty Award for Research in 1998 and a merit award for research in 2002.

Congratulations to Dr. Afia Yamoah, Center for Economic Development, who recently gave birth to a nine pound baby boy named Jason George Yamoah. Baby and mom are doing well.

Annual Registration Required. All 2008-2009 Faculty/Staff Bi-Annual and Annual parking permits expire on June 30, 2009. Bi-Annual permits are discontinued for 2009-2010.Faculty and Staff who wish to obtain or renew their Annual parking permit with Payroll Deduction may download the registration form at: www.csuohio.edu/services/parking/facstaffparkregform.pdf
