Center for the NextGen_Economy

The Center for the NextGen_Economy (NextGen) is an Ohio-designated Center of Excellence , housed at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. The Center was recognized as a Center of Excellence on October 26, 2011 by the Ohio Board of Regents, and is one of three Centers of Excellence at Cleveland State University. The other Centers of Excellence selected by the Ohio Board of Regents at Cleveland State are the Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease located in the College of Sciences and Health Professions and the Center for 21st Century Health Professions.

The mission of Next_Gen is to foster a thriving economy by promoting effective economic development policies that will lead to economic transformation and regeneration and to provide national thought leadership on the connection between business strategy and management through an interdisciplinary approach.

The Centerís research focuses are:

  • Economic development
  • Small and mid-size business development
  • Emerging Manufacturing Trends

The Centerís professional staff includes researchers, associated faculty, and center fellows.

The Center works with partners and clients in business, academia, and nonprofit organizations. All of the research will be summarized in publications. In addition, the center will provide research opportunities.
