About the Center

Printable brochure (pdf)

Created in 1991, the Urban Child Research Center has taken a multi-disciplinary approach in addressing issues concerning the growth, development, and education of urban children and youth. A key feature of its work has been to link academia to the community, providing academic expertise to youth-serving agencies.

The UCRC engages in research and policy analysis on matters that affect families and children in urban communities. Urban households, particularly those in central cities, are uniquely affected by economic, social and political trends. The work of this center is to provide information that will enable policy makers and community leaders to respond to the impact of these trends.
