Students should refer to the Undergraduate CSU Bulletin for procedures regarding add/drop and withdrawal as well as S/U and incomplete grading.
Contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester if you need to make special arrangements for testing, etc.
For class cancellations due to weather, call CSU information (687-2000) before class.
Grades cannot be changed after their issuance at the end of the Quarter.
Academic misconduct: plagiarism or cheating will result in an "F" for the course.
(see the the CSU student code of conduct, section 3.1.2)
In addition, the student's name will be forwarded to the Academic Misconduct Review Committee, for a hearing concerning suspension from the University. It is strongly recommended that students familiarize themselves with the various forms of academic misconduct in the CSU Code of Student Conduct, section 3.1.2.
When dealing with homework or lab assignments, students may find it difficult to distinguish between "helping out" a fellow student, or "working together" on a project, and academic misconduct. Some guidelines about what constitutes academic misconduct:
Never share any of your written or electronic materials with another student. This includes your homeworks, data, tables, files, etc.
Work only at your own computer. Do not sit in front of a classmate's computer and "take control" by using the mouse, typing on the keyboard, etc. which amounts to doing the work that your classmate will hand in for credit.
Write independently. Writing up your answers without consultation avoids doubts about authorship.
Reference your information sources for any a piece of information in your write-up gleaned from another source (for example, your text book). Verbatim text must be quoted (crediting the author) and paraphrased information must be referenced.
Work you hand in must be your own independent and unique work, distinct from that of every other student in the class. If you have questions about this, please ask before your work is turned in.
In accordance with University policy, "the Grade of "Incomplete"
(I) is given when the work in a course has been generally passing, but when some specifically required task has not been completed through no fault of the student" (CSU Code of Student Conduct, Section 3.1.5 ). Therefore, an Incomplete is not a way of avoiding a bad grade on your record, or lightening your academic workload after having missed the last drop date. It can only be granted in cases that fit the above guidelines.
