About the Forum

The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs and The Center for Community Solutions will co-sponsor a symposium on the financial health of the nonprofit sector in Ohio on February 1, 2013, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  The symposium will begin with a review of how Ohio nonprofit organizations have been affected by the recession of the past four years—and how they are responding—and a surprising report on how health and social services are funded in Northeast Ohio.  The symposium will culminate in a panel featuring philanthropic and public sector leaders who will share their observations regarding the health of the nonprofit sector and a question-and-answer discussion with attendees.

The CSU study is based on survey results of over 230 nonprofit organizations across Ohio. Results include a comparison of  "lifeline” organizations with the other nonprofit respondents (lifeline organizations were defined as nonprofits engaged in services such as food, emergency shelter, and health care).  The Ohio study is benchmarked against a national study conducted by the Nonprofit Finance Fund.
