CSU Named Among Best Universities for Student Voting

Cleveland State University has again been named as one of the best universities for student voting according to Washington Monthly. To earn this recognition, schools must meet multiple criteria. Schools were required to submit action plans to the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge in both 2018 and 2020. Schools were also required to sign up to receive data from the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE), which calculates college-specific registration and voting rates. In addition, schools were required to make previous data (2016 and 2018 NSLVE data) available to the public, demonstrating a repeated commitment to increasing student voting as well as transparency about the results. CSU was awarded this distinction due to a Democracy Action Plan submitted by Anita Ruf-Young, Director of CSU’s Office of Civic Engagement, housed in the Levin College. “It was great to receive the list and see the work we are all doing around voter and civic engagement be recognized,” said Ruf-Young.
