Working in the Office of Civic Engagement was a tremendous professional and personal growth opportunity. I began working with Anita, in the OCE, in January of 2020. Little did we know, that COVID-19 would soon completely change how we lived and worked. Moving the OCE's civic operations to a completely remote format was one of the greatest professional challenges that Anita and I had ever faced. We both knew that the critical work of getting CSU students civically engaged could not be interrupted, especially in what was a critical presidential election year. Reaching our campus community during this time required a great deal of ingenuity and greater emphasis on our digital engagement with our campus. We created over 100 civic themed posts for the OCE's Twitter and Instagram accounts. These posts were liked by over 1,000 students, faculty, staff, and community members, and were engaged with by many more. I could not have asked for a better professional partner and mentor than Anita to work with during such an extraordinary time. During my time working with Anita and the OCE, I have developed and refined many professional skills including: supervising, coordinating programs, working on strategic plans for the OCE's civic work, and social media marketing. I received my Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State on May 15, 2021. After graduation, I plan to work in the public sector or in non-profit management. I am grateful for the engaging educational experience I have had at CSU. I would like to thank my family, friends, Anita, and professors for getting me to this moment.
