The Center for Emergency Preparedness is the Leader in Ohio’s Emergency preparedness for over 25 years. Since its inception in 1984, the Center has continuously provided highly evaluated and outstanding programming.

The course offerings include: Hazardous Materials (Haz Mat), Confined Space, National Incident Management System (NIMS), Business Continuity and Emergency Planning, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Hospital Healthcare First Receiver, and various specialty courses. Most courses are run with grant funding or are custom training projects. Therefore, the offerings shown in the catalog represent only a small portion of the Center’s overall programming. All grant and custom training programs are tailored to our clients’ needs, often through an on-site pre-instruction meeting.
In 2010, the Center adopted the Haz Mat curriculum from the Ohio Fire Academy, thus providing consistency in our instructional material(s) and program delivery. The Center takes an active collaborative role with all levels of government and educational institutions by preparing first responders for all hazards.
Four staff members work specifically for the Center: a director, an administrative coordinator, and two part-time employees. Director Bernard Becker, III is responsible for providing quality leadership and management. In addition, Director Becker identifies, develops and manages all emergency preparedness continuing education. Nina Antonik is our Administrative Coordinator and provides all levels of customer service and administrative support. Michael Fox is our Equipment Specialist, responsible for scheduling grant-training classes and keeping all of the training equipment operationally ready. Patrick Mangan is our Business Associate, responsible for meeting our customers’ needs through custom training. Patrick is experienced in developing on-site, customized training for businesses and emergency service providers.
